Wordless Wednesday: Simply Starlings

I’m participating in Thematic Photographic 34 - Simple.
I came across some starlings hanging out near some city parking lots searching for some scraps.

Somebody did a post recently on a mass extermination of starlings in ... New Jersey? I think it was New Jersey. Killed off about 5000 of them with a "species-targeted pesticide" which was supposed to pose "minimal threat to other animals and humans". Apparently the population had gotten out of control. They didn't say how, but I suspect it was because the natural predators had been killed off in some other killing spree.

For being the most intelligent species on the planet, humans sure can be stupid can't they?

What a cool idea! I sometimes need to be reminded of all the wildlife that is around us, even in urban areas.

Amazing where critters can survive and even flourish, isn't it?
I recently learned that starlings love grubs. What better environmentally safe grub control can there be? I now welcome them for the brief times when they are passing thru.
